What is Kratom?

Kratom is a dried herbal supplement made from the leaves of the Mitragyna speciosa tree, a plant native to Southeast Asia and a relative of the coffee family. Its use has been documented since the 1800s, but indigenous use likely stretches back much further.

While relatively obscure in the west until recently, the supplement has now been popularized at the global level.
